Three Ways To Break The Status Quo

Are you stuck? Is your norm not where you want it to be? Then it’s time for you to break out.

Is there any real reason for you to stay in the status quo? Many of us create resolutions or goals in an effort to move forward. We want to try to reach the true potential that is in all of us, but we sometimes just don’t seem to be getting there. You envision a new future, a new you, only to find yourself back in the same place you were.

If you are willing to do break through here are three ways:

  1. Resolve – You must smash through that wall. When the push is to go back to the status quo you must push through. Resolve to not shrink back…to go through…that you are coming out the other side not only better but as a new you. Set your face to stone and no matter what keep moving through. You will get there.
  2. Burning Desire – If you have a burning desire you will find a way to go through no matter what. Robert Collier, summed up is desire best when he said of desire, “Very few people know how to desire with sufficient intensity. They do not know what it is to feel and manifest that intense, eager, longing, craving, insistent, demanding, ravenous desire which is akin to the persistent, insistent, ardent, overwhelming desire of the drowning man for a breath of air, or a desert-lost man for a drink of water, or the famished man for bread and meat.” When you truly want it…you will break it.
  3. Drop The Excuses – We all have them. We have a way of making an excuse every day. Come on…admit it…you made an excuse today on why you can’t do what you need to do. As soon as you are willing to drop them you will begin to start smashing that status quo wall.

Here is a story from Napoleon Hill’s classic Think And Grow Rich:

“A long while ago, a great warrior faced a situation which made it necessary for him to make a decision which insured his success on the battlefield. He was about to send his armies against a powerful foe, whose men outnumbered his own. He loaded his soldiers into boats, sailed to the enemy’s country, unloaded soldiers and equipment, then gave the order to burn the ships that had carried them. Addressing the men before the first battle, he said, “You see the boats going up in smoke. That means that we cannot leave these shores unless we win! We now have no choice—we win—or we perish!”

So what happened? They Won!!!

Hill said:

“Every person who wins in any undertaking must be willing to burn his ships and cut all sources of retreat. Only by so doing can one be sure of maintaining that state of mind known as a burning desire to win, essential to success.”

What is stopping you today from breaking through?
